The Credit Union Art Competition is one of the most successful annual promotions undertaken by the Credit Union Movement.

The competition is about encouraging and rewarding self expression, creativity and imagination among young artists throughout Ireland.

Competition entrants are free to express their creativity using a wide variety of media.

The competition requires entrants to draw or paint posters on the theme using pencil, charcoal, pen or ink, felt-tip markets, crayon, pastel, water colours, gouache, acrylics, oils, poster colour or collage.

There are two categories – General and Special – with five age groups in each:

7 years and under, 8-10 years, 11-13 years, 14-17 years, 18 years and over (and a further Group section in the SPECIAL category).

The Special Category encouraged participants with a physical or intellectual disability to submit entries in free expression without the restriction of the competition’s official theme, if they so wish.

  • School-Quiz-PosterCU Schools Quiz

The Credit Union Schools Quiz is one of the most exciting events in the primary school calendar, consisting of two knock out stages at local and regional level and culminating in a National Final in Dublin’s RDS where 100 qualifying teams compete for the title of Schools Quiz champions.

The Quiz is divided into two sections: Competition A for children up to 11 years and Competition B for children under 13. Local quiz winners go through to the Regional Finals and regional winners and runners-up (100 teams of 4 children) compete for the National titles.

The Schools Quiz is run throughout communities all over Ireland by volunteers from over 300 credit unions. The questions are compiled by primary school teachers and will cover topics such as geography, history, music, literature and sport.

The local level heats take place at the end of January each year.

  • 05052011-101225GR8 SAVERS

GR8 Saver Week is all about encouraging young people to join our Credit Union and save for a brighter future.

We set up an information table in our office where young members could pick up entry forms and parents were able to get information on youth accounts.

We were delighted with the response from schools and young members.
